Antwan Hovachelik is a Fictional Character and the manager, founder and CEO of Soonami Games, He is portrayed by Taika Waititi.
Personality[]
Truly narcissistic and prideful to a default, Antwan is a manipulative, cold calculating individual who cares nothing more about what makes profits rather than what people actually like. He loves attention and fame and often does anything he can to cover up his previous crimes and thiefs. While he is the CEO of a game company, he often tends to overlook small details which can be exploited by others. Due the bugs in his games, it's also implied he's not a good programer.
Plot[]
At some point prior to the events of the film, Antwan stole the source code for the game Life Itself co-created by Millie Rusk and Walter 'Keys' McKey and secretly uploaded into Free City to cover up his crime of thief. While he does hide a fragment of the original game he forgot to erase the reflection of the area which Guy sees from his apartment. Later in the film, Antwan becomes jealous that the NPC Guy is becoming popular which lure people away from buying his games. As such he does everything he can to stop Guy and Millie from finding the original source code from Life Itself but Guy ends up getting to the area allowing everyone to see the source code.
Afterwards, Millie makes a deal with Antwan saying that he can keep the profits Free City and its sequels get while she keeps the source code from Life Itself and the other NPCs which Antwan agrees to believing it to be an easy victory. As it turns out, the deal was a Pyrrhic victory for him as without the code, Free City 2 sales plummet due to game lag and software bugs. Antwan himself is removed from his position at Soonami Games and becomes wrapped up in media controversy.
